Tutoring for Community

Tutoring for Community (TFC) is a student run club that provides tutoring services to the children of Stanford staff. We tutor on Saturdays from 2:45 - 4:45 pm at the Haas Center right on campus. The tutees range all ages and span all grades. Tutoring for Tutoring for Community is a great way to give back to those hard workers who make your life at Stanford so enjoyable.

Student Initiated Courses

Student Initiated Courses (SIC) is a program that gives students the opportunity to design and participate in courses in areas they feel are currently under-explored at Stanford. For each course, a faculty sponsor serves as mentor and advisor for the course leader, and the course itself can be taught by the student, a faculty member, or guest lecturers or professors. Student initiated courses are offered in the Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters. Courses in the past have included Sustainable Agriculture, Objectivism, Understanding the Israel-Palestine Conflict, California Prisons Issues, Hapa Issues on Race and Identity, and much more. SIC strongly encourages courses with a community service component, as it endeavors to fortify the important link between education and service.
